Lou Ludwig Success Tips: Your Character Will Become Your Calling Card

Your Character Will Become Your Calling Card

Your Character Will Become Your Calling Card

“Character is doing the right thing when nobody’s looking.

There are too many people who think that the only

thing that’s right is to get by, and the only thing

that’s wrong is to get caught.”

J. C. Watts

As I see it. . . . . . . .

Your character will become your calling card

Let other judge you by the quality of your character . . . . and let your character be above approach.

The quality of your character will either open the doors of opportunity for you . . . . Or you will find them locked for you and the opportunities lose.

Your character is earned . . . . as a results of your words and deeds and can be lost quickly through your words and actions.

When your success journey is build on a solid foundation of a strong character.  People will seek you out . . . . and you will find that your business will grow to a mirror of your character.

Protect your character . . . . and keep it beyond approach . . . . and your character will become an enormous  resource to you in reaching your objectives . . . . and in achieving your goals.

Your character will become your calling card . . . . make it one that you would proud to share.

Character and ethics are of supreme importance in business dealings.  It's like trust in any relationship.  Without it you have nothing!

I've seen too many people that when you hear their name, their reputation preseded them and you may have an instant opinion of them, even though you personally don't know them.

It's about trying to get your self as consistant in private as in public so that there are no lies even by mistake.

Well said, Lou Ludwig - Character is 'earned' with one good act at a time.

Character is very important for future business. Ethics is right up there also. If you have both with hard work you should succeed.

Excellent post.  I have always found 'doing the right thing when no one is watching' to be extremely powerful words. As always you expand upon them to a tee.

Hi Lou, Great quote from JC Watts, you need to protect your character and reputation, live by the Golden Rule.

Good morning Lou. I do like this quote from JC Watts. There is a lot to be said about character. This quote sums it up.

Exactly.  Never do anything you can't undo and make sure everything you do is something your parents would be proud of. ;-)

More than your parents be proud of, YOU have to approve, it is your self esteem and morals. Do the right thing, every time.

Wonderful post. Your character is the one thing you can never hide from others for very long.  We all make mistakes and a bad choice or two, however, when you acknowledge those errors this speaks volumes and that part of your character is seldom forgotten.

Being of good character is as important as being dependable, reliable and many good traits of an honest upright person.

In the end the cream will rise to the top.  For humans the force that brings you to the top is character.

Situational ethics should not be an issue because if you have excellent ethics, the situation will not matter. Right is right all of the time, not just when someone is watching you.

Great advice Lou and something to keep in mind for real estate lifers, it's a small world out there and your reputation proceeds you!

I love the quote, it's so very true.  The best way to remain above reproach in buiness is to ask yourself two questions:  1) Is it the best option for my client, 2)  Is it legal and/or ethical.

Beyond that, being mature and professional in all situations is all that it takes.

A few weeks ago, I was in a room of maybe a dozen people, one of whom I'd worked with in the past (though he isn't a realtor).

After the get together, I reached out to 2 different people and wanted to suggest they keep their shields ready.  In both of those cases, each of the people I wanted to whisper to simply thanked me, and assured me that person's reputation was clear to them from their own networks. And no, they weren't likely to entertain much involvment with him.

Character and reputation, good or bad, are both huge differentiators.

Solid advice.  If you believe you are a handshake guy or girl you have to approach all business with that mindset.

Lou,

Sadly, I fear that character used to be more important in society than it is today.
