Lou Ludwig Success Tips: Those Who Achieve . . . . Overcome

Those Who Achieve . . . . Overcome

Those Who Achieve . . . . Overcome

“Show me someone who has done something worthwhile,

and I’ll show you someone who has overcome adversity.”

Lou Holtz, Author, Motivational Speaker, Former

Football Coach

As I see it . . . . . . .

Those who achieve . . . . Overcome

In a recent training program . . . . a student asked me.

She said “why do you talk about achievers having to overcome obstacles . . . . adversity . . . . setbacks . . . . and failure in order to succeed”?

Then she added “What about all the people who have succeed and didn’t have overcome those things and succeed”?

I said “before I answer your question . . . . let me ask you a question”. Do you think that the successful people you know or read about accomplished their success without having to overcome adversity in their life and on their success journey?

She relayed  . . . . “Yes! that why their successful . . .  they’re lucky”.

I asked her . . . . Do you consider yourself lucky? She said “NO that why I’m in your class”.

Responding to her and the class . . . . I shared my understanding of luck as it relates to business and life.

When preparation meets opportunity the person with a positive attitude creates the conditions for a successful outcome. Some people will call that luck others will call it an on purpose activity.

I want on to explain . . . .

The person that can manage their emotions . . . . places themselves into a position to manage the various conditions in their lives.

Obstacles and challenging conditions are part of your success journey. The reason you read about successful overcoming obstacles . . . . and bouncing back from setbacks and failure . . . . is because it’s  part personal growth and in pursuing your goals.

Success is hard work . . . . Those who achieve . . . . Overcome the obstacle in their life and earn the right to stand in the winner’s circle.

Lou, most of the time success comes on purpose not by sheer luck.

Hello Lou,

It is a good thing that student was in your class, hopefully she has learned how to make her luck by overcoming obstacles!

Writing success off to "luck" highly underestimates the skill involved in one's achievement of success.
