What Does Life and Riding a Bicycle Have in Common?
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance
you must keep moving.”
Albert Einstein 1879 – 1955, German – Born theoretical
physicist developed the general theory of relativity
As I see it . . . . . . .
What does life and riding a bicycle have in Common?
When I go back and remember the experience of learning how to ride a bike. I remember being excited about learning how to ride a bike like the big guys. But I also remember the first time I sat on the bike like it was yesterday.
One of friends held onto the back of the seat to balance the bike while I get on the bike. I started to peddle the bike and that lasted a few seconds and then I lost my balance and down I went.
After a number of false starts, falling down several times . . . Skinning knees and elbows I finally wobbled slowly down the sidewalk with the front wheel going back and forth to keep my balance.
That day many summers ago I learned have to ride a bike.
To learn how to ride a bike successfully, you first had to learn how to balance yourself on a bike. Once you learned how to balance yourself you could control the direction of the bike.
To live a successful life you have to learn how to balance your life.
It’s very easy to get into a situation where you life gets out of balance. Many times it happen slowly and without any fanfare until one day you wake up and your life is out of balance.
If you want to ride a bike you have to balance yourself on the bike. The same goes for life . . . . if you want to live a prosperous and successful life your life has to be in balance.
Otherwise things in your life start to fall apart and you trade off success in one aspect of your life at the expense of losing other things in your life.
