Cindy makes an excellence point. Should our blog post fit out target audience. Or should our posts be written for a general audience? Cindy gives us something to think about.
Good luck and success.
Recently I’m noticing more bloggers on Active Rain posting with larger fonts and multiple colors. However does this growing phenomena on Active Rain enhance your blog posts or send your readers running the other way?
When you browse the web looking at blogs identified as innovative and creative as well as those who have thousands of readers you quickly notice they are not “enhanced”. Font size is a standard “small” font and they do not have multiple colors in each post. Usually the only color you see is where a link is inserted. If the author is looking to grab your attention they may bold a word or sentence.
Why has Active Rain attracted such a large gathering of users who enhance their posts with larger fonts and colors? Is it the ease of use of products such as NVU and Scribed that make cutting pasting html into a post easy? Is it a matter of the blogs you subscribe to are “enhancers” and you like their look?
Before you decide to enhance your next post with supersize font consider your target audience. As one who has to find their reading glasses before sitting down at the computer screen larger font can be helpful but does my target audience need it? Is my target audience attracted by orange, green, red paragraphs or are they looking for meaty content?
So why do you enhance your posts on Active Rain with large font and multiple colors? Inquiring minds want to know.
and yes I too on occasion have been seduced by a variety of font sizes and colors.
